Kedarnath Dham is a popular pilgrimage site in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the Char Dham Yatra destinations and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is situated amidst the snow-clad Himalayan range, near the holy Mandakini river in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.
When planning a Kedarnath tour package, it is important to ensure that the package includes all necessary arrangements, such as transportation, accommodation, meals, and a guide. It is also important to check the package details, including the itinerary and the cost, to ensure that it fits your preferences and budget.
The Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a must-see site set against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath Range. According to the legend, after achieving victory over the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas felt guilty for killing their brothers and sought Lord Shiva’s blessings for salvation. He made them flee again and again and while on the run took refuge in Kedarnath in the form of a bull.
When chased, he sank into the ground leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining parts of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshiped as his forms. His locks (hair) were seen along with arms at Tungnath, face at Rudranath, stomach at Madmaheshwar, and head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the above-mentioned four pilgrimages are considered as PanchKedar.
